G1, more about sales and system security

Posted on 26 October 2008

Read and followed all forms of rumors about the sales volume of the first Mobile phone working on Android system which we know now with the name G1.
Some people may wonder why there is a passion to know the phone sales volume, we may provide them with answer when we say that the sales of this phone is very important for more than one reason, it gives a clear indication of what can we expect about the demand on mobiles operating on Android system in general which expected to appear in large numbers from several manufacturers during the next year.
The other reason relates to the fact that the same system and phone is known everywhere as the “Google phone” and so we are not overwhelmed by the crowd, when we say if the phone was not Google Phone, No doubt that the system is Google and from here stems the importance of further follow-up sales to determine the success of Google’s experience producing operating system for mobile phones and what that might mean for us and the company’s future.

So, the figures this time is closest to truth because it came from the CEO of HTC who spoke about the expected sales by the end of this year up to 600 thousand units only - not million and half like promoted the rumors earlier - but the man had returned to confirm the expectation of more sales Next year.

On the other hand, some security researchers find security bug in the Internet browser of the Android system which allow hackers to install pieces of software in the operating system through visiting a page for this purpose on the Internet.
However, they returned and affirmed that this breach of security - which Google had knowledge about it and no doubt they working on fixing it now - couldn’t let the hacker affect on the whole system but only on the internet browser because of the nature of the development of the system that makes each software operations independent from the rest of other operations.
